Editor:

Thank you to the Aurora Sentinel for their excellent profiles of the Cherry Creek Board of Education candidates.  It was a well-written, informative article.

However, as a former Cherry Creek School District (CCSD) school board member and president, I must respectfully disagree with their endorsement of a former District employee.  I believe Matt Batcho is the best-qualified, independent candidate to serve on the CCSD Board of Education.

Matt Batcho will effectively represent all of the stakeholders’ expectations for excellent schools.  Mr. Batcho has been an active volunteer in CCSD for many years.  He served two years as president of the Polton Elementary Parent Teacher Community Organization (PTCO). Mr. Batcho has two daughters in the Overland feeder area and thoroughly understands the challenges that impact the area.  He served as the Building Coordinator for Polton for the 2012 Bond and Budget election.  I was the chair of the citizen’s campaign committee and it was a privilege and a pleasure to work with an effective leader like Matt Batcho.

The successful passage of the 2012 Bond and Budget election continues to be critical to the financial stability of the Cherry Creek School District. Mr. Batcho currently serves on the Long Range Facility Planning Committee for the entire District. His former military experience broadens his perspective of the various paths to success that need to be available to students.

Cherry Creek voters have a strong tradition of electing school board members who have a broad view of the District and concern for the achievement of all students.  Matt Batcho is running without an agenda and without any endorsements beyond those who know him personally.  Mr. Batcho has demonstrated a strong commitment to our students and our schools over a period of many years.

Please join me and vote for Matt Batcho to ensure that the strong tradition of excellence continues in the Cherry Creek School District.

Respectfully Submitted,
