The current hot housing market has some pitfalls for eager buyers. Big gas and oil has succeeded in making it legal to allow new housing construction 150 feet away from wells/pipelines, etc. If this is a safety concern for your family, be sure to ask right away if there is an active, approved, pending approval or “inactive” oil and gas site near where you want to buy. If you don’t, the developer isn’t required to notify you of this until closing (and then only on the first sale of the home). This won’t protect you from having an oil and gas site approved AFTER you move in. New oil and gas site applications in Aurora are ALWAYS approved. That happened to me and my neighbors.
