Let’s talk about this nonsense being thrown around about liberal, Democratic and progressive political candidates — “a demonic cult”? Really?
A demonic cult is defined as a group “of, relating to, or suggestive of a demon.” That might sound like something out of a bad horror flick, but apparently it’s the new talking point from those desperate to distract from their own records.
Knowing Alli Jackson, Amy Wiles, Gianina Horton, Ruben Medina, and Rob Andrews — all Aurora city council candidates — like I do, I can say this much: There’s nothing demonic about advocating for grocery stores instead of gas stations, about revitalizing Colfax, or about holding our police department accountable. What’s actually frightening is how far some folks will go to smear people who simply want Aurora to work for everyone — not just the well-connected few.
Let’s be real. These five candidates are not plotting dark rituals — they’re pushing for economic growth and community progress.
Gianina Horton has been loud and clear about creating a Downtown Development Authority for Colfax — something that would finally give Ward I in northwest Aurora the investment it deserves. She’s not conjuring demons; she’s conjuring opportunity.
Amy Wiles, in Ward II, is done settling for half-baked development projects that do nothing for residents. She’s demanding a real grocery store, improved RTD routes, and actual infrastructure upgrades. That’s not “evil.” That’s what leadership looks like.
Ruben Medina shows up — for everyone. Parks, mental health, recreation, and community safety are his heartbeat issues. He doesn’t just talk about inclusion; he lives it.
Alli Jackson brings energy, innovation, and accountability to the table. She’s not afraid to say that the Aurora Police Department needs reform, and she’s got ideas rooted in equity — not ideology. She’s proof that you can be tough on systems without being cruel to people.
And Rob Andrews? His campaign has been about love — love of community, love of service, and love of progress. He’s spent years working behind the scenes on policy, and now he’s ready to lead with that same calm, capable spirit.
So, no, these candidates aren’t leading a cult. But you know what might be a little cult-like? The lockstep outrage machine that throws around wild accusations every election cycle instead of talking about issues.
Four years ago, a mayoral candidate pulled the same stunt. He called his opponent a “demon” in disguise, and it cost him the election. Maybe Aurora voters are tired of the hellfire theatrics. Maybe they want results instead of rants.
Here’s the truth: the left-leaning candidates in this race are building something — not burning it down. They’re fighting for safer streets, thriving neighborhoods, and a city where every Auroran matters.
So if believing in progress, accountability, and community makes them a “demonic cult,” then maybe it’s time we ask who’s really afraid of the light.

Aaron – You hold yourself in such high regard. Anyone who pays attention to council meetings, and / or your comments on the Sentinel (Facebook) knows that you have some weird obsession with Jurinsky. You think your important. You think everything you say is philanthropic. All you do is lie and divide like the rest of them. I don’t know the candidates you support personally, they may not be bad people. You however, are a delusional lost boy.
completely unfair accusation there Christina. Jurinsky has proven to be a major liability to city with incompetence, hatred and lies. If Aaron has an obsession so do I and have had it for 4 years and HAVE HAD IT.
Wow, Christina! This came out of left field. The column didn’t mention Jurinsky; it was a positive opinion piece about certain candidates. You might want to chill!
No need to mention Jurinsky by name. We all know a snake in the grass when we see one.
Yeah, you’re an expert on them because you seem them all the time, Billy-boy. It’s called a mirror.
“Philanthropic”? I do not think that word means what you think it means.
As for Jurinsky, we really didn’t need the false portrayal of our city that she tossed around to get camera time with Trump, who made sure to get no closer to the actual Aurora than the Gaylord resort. She really would be far more comfortable in the all-white bastion of Douglas County.
LOL, Jeffy-poo really does hate white people, doesn’t he?
This is very helpful! Thank you! Voting straight Democrat ticket as a former GOPer. I used to vote from a learned tradition. Now I vote with intellect and heart.
Be advised Aurora citizens, that this letter is just a unpaid political endorsement stating one man’s personal opinion about our upcoming election. If you follow Aurora politics, you understand each of the listed candidates are either declared socialist or far left democrats, similar to NYC’s Mandani.
Since Dave Perry and the Sentinel blog can’t advise anyone of their political standing since they became a not for profit corporation, they can’t endorse so they print these type of letters.
If you really want to elect a selection of candidates to build a better Aurora, then you must elect Jurinsky, Kassaw at large, Elkins for I, Sundberg for II and Berzins for III.
Now, there’s another man’s opinion. And I give that opinion with intellect and heart not a learned tradition.
