The sweeping momentum in Colorado and across the country for gay rights, respect and cultural normalization is decisive and irreversible.
Although the fight to ensure dignity and equality for gays and lesbians has a long ways to go, it is indisputable that America’s way out of the darkness is profound and certain. We will look back at this time in the future with the same amazement as we do now reflecting on civil rights victories in the 1960s.
But it’s frustrating to see gains in critical matters such as gay marriage all across the country, while here in Colorado, homosexuals still stuffer under a misguided and unconstitutional gay-marriage ban.
Courts in neighboring states and all over the country are throwing out state bans on homosexual marriages, citing the obvious flaw in such legislation: inequality among U.S citizens.
Sadly, the ill-effects of Colorado’s discriminatory law aren’t over yet, despite a recent local appellate court ruling upholding a decision to overturn Utah’s ban. It’s frustrating and it’s immoral. But it’s the law.
Boulder County Clerk Hillary Hall took it upon herself just after the announcement by the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver to begin issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples. The move was bold, heart-warming and dead wrong. Hall must stop issuing the licenses now.
While her move has shone an even brighter light on the tragic unfairness of preventing gays in Colorado from marrying, she has illustrated how important it is that we remain a state and a country that operates under a rule of law. Despite the ill-conceived nature of Colorado’s 2006 ban on gay marriage, it’s the law for a short time longer until either courts or voters undo that damage.
Hall’s defiance of the ban is no different than that of a group of rogue, Republican sheriffs who refuse to enforce or even acknowledge gun-control measures approved by state lawmakers two years ago. Likewise, their move was bold and emotional, but it was dead wrong. Only state and local legislators can create or dissolve law, not sheriffs, not clerks, not school superintendents nor secretaries of state. As much as we admire Hall’s moxie to undo wrongs long inflicted on a class of Americans, we must make changes within the system or invite chaos and confusion by encouraging the next county official, cop or parks director to do whatever they want.
Instead, Hall should press Attorney General John Suthers to quit working to defend Colorado’s ban in the court, and instead allow Hall and clerks across the state to issue marriage licenses to all state residents, regardless of sexual orientation.
It’s difficult to stand by and watch such immoral discrimination being meted out, but the alternative is to invite clerks who don’t understand how righteous equality for Colorado homosexuals really is. Those clerks could easily choose later to ignore a Colorado law or court case that sanctions gay marriage. What would prevent that injustice is the fact that we are a nation and a state based on the rule of law.
Urge Hall to stop and join the legitimate fight and inevitable victory in turning back one of darkest periods in U.S. history, and preserving the effects of that victory in the future.

The law was struck down as unconstitutional by the 10th Circuit Court which then stayed their ruling. She and her county attorney and his staff have thoroughly reviewed the 10th Circuit decision and stay and it is within her legal right to apply that law as she and her attorney’s interpret it – she is NOT breaking the law but fulfilling it to the letter! The AG wants people to believe she is breaking the law but this is untrue – and he KNOWS it! She and her county atty are actually within their legal rights and
have interpreted the 10th Circuit Court’s stay correctly. While the 10th Circuit’s ruling about the unconstitutionality of the marriage ban applies to the entire 10th Circuit – their stay ONLY applied to Utah not Colorado and the other states w/in the 10th Circuit! She is right and the AG is just playing dumb and pretending she is wrong! It’s all political. If what she is doing were illegal, it’s the 10th Circuit’s stay and they could’ve ordered her to stop in a heartbeat! Here’s an erudite explanation as to why the stay ONLY applies to Utah

Finding that equal protection of the law authorizes gay marriage only exists in the twisted brains of judges. In browsing the net, I have not found a single state where “We the People” voted, that approved of same sex marriage. Twist it, spin it, and it just does not exist. Not in English Law, Not in other countries, and Marriage was in churches as a religious state. Printing it in legal offices, gave protection of inheritance rights and rights to children. Nothing else. If equal rights was correct, we could close all jails and prisons, because there would be no definition of crime or criminals. Additionally, as believers, the Holy Spirit gives gifts of the Spirit to the blood washed (but not all, and not every gift). But, unfortunately, many do not rightly divide the Word of God, even through prayer and guidance from the Holy Spirit. And yes, apostate will be/is present in the last days. I believe, even though many incorrectly used God’s Word to justify slavery (and other evil things) as believers, although abhorrent behavior/preaching, not all were evil and not all are in Hell. I have the gift of evangelism and have used it to glorify God and lead many to the Lord around the world and in a taxi cab for 20 years including homosexuals who changed once saved. Now I teach and have for years, also preach when the Pastor needs a break. Have prayed that God would give me wisdom and understanding concerning His Word and believe He has answered that prayer. I believe anyone who thinks homosexuals should be married never read Genesis 2:23-25, and think Lev. 18 was just for the Jews. Some even say you have to go to church on the Shabbat, yet Romans 14 says not to judge a person about the day they worship on and many forget that. All the commandments mentioned in the NT except the Shabbat which is mentioned in Roman’s 14. Galatians says a person can’t live by the law and Grace and if you live by just one of the Laws you have to live them all and only Jesus could do that perfectly and if a person breaks just one he or she broke them all.
Many say we the body of Christ, the Bride the Church will go through the tribulation, yet in Thessalonians it is clear that we will not see the wrath of God and the tribulation is the wrath of God. Also says in the second book that the anti-Christ won’t be revealed until we are gone. If not gone why would God need a 144,000 virgin Jewish men from the 12 tribes of Israel to preach the gospel of the Kingdom?

When I was first saved I had a modern version of the Bible and God had me give it away on a bus. Now I didn’t have Gods Word, that night the pastor and some kids and myself when skating, on the way home I asked him if he had a extra Bible and he handed me a new KJV and went I got home I said I’ll never understand this but, got on my knee’s and asked God to have the Holy Spirit teach me His Word, sat down a read it and haven’t ever had a problem with it, unlike newer versions which take away words and add words which God warns 3 times in the scriptures not to do, yet they do. King James wanted the best translation and had original manuscripts and the translator’s weren’t allowed to bring in notes or anything else to do the translation’s and even had guards standing over them to make sure they didn’t use anything but the scriptures they had. People who aren’t Born Again will never understand any version of the Bible as Gods Word says. I have used the KJV for over 25 years and have never had a problem explaining the verses from the Hebrew or Greek. So I find no out of place words or hard to understand verses. In my study (and belief) of scripture, I still cannot understand why some animals are also gay. In particular, 10% of rams won’t have sex with ewes (female rams), but do with male rams. 1963? Is that not like 51 years ago? Were the Russians trying to turn Americans into a bunch of gays, and are there more (proportionally) homosexuals today as a result of the communist gay campaign. I wonder if they donate to gay parades way back then.
I do know that one communist finger-pointers, Gen MacArthur, was a big gay.

When the federal district court in Utah struck down Utah’s marriage law a few days before Christmas last December, and the State’s request for a stay was denied by both the district court and the court of appeals, the Supreme Court unanimously issued a stay, blocking the district court’s judgment. It is quite rare for the Supreme Court to issue a stay when both lower courts have refused to do so, and the standard that it applies is whether the state had demonstrated a likelihood of success on the merits. The stay issued by the Supreme Court in the Utah case therefore outweighs all of the district court decisions that have recent invalidate state marriage laws combined.
