CURTIS WOODBURY MERRILL, 84, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away on January 12, 2014 after a brief battle with combined pneumonia and flu.

Curtis was born in Syracuse, New York on June 14, 1929, to Curtis W. Merrill, Sr., and Katharine Hill.  He served his country in the Navy during the Korean war.  Curtis married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Marie Lindsay of Worcester, Massachusetts on July 18, 1949 in Keene, New Hampshire.

After earning a degree in accounting, Curtis served as a trust officer, retiring as Vice President at Title Insurance and Trust Company.

Curtis’ smile and sense of humor were a natural gift and he made friends easily.  He was well-respected and loved by all.  We will all cherish the fond and loving memories we have of Curtis; he will be missed by all who knew him.   May he rest in peace.

Curtis is preceded in death by his beautiful bride, Barbara, who died March 1, 2012, in California.  They were married for 62 years.

Curtis is survived by his children Curtis Merrill, Jr, of Aurora, Colorado, Elizabeth Ann McRoberts, of Prescott, Arizona, and Wayne Lindsay Merrill of Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. on January 20, 2014 at Ft. Logan cemetery, with full military honors, attended by the Colorado Naval Honor Guard and the Colorado Patriot Guard, where Curtis will join his beloved wife, Barbara Lindsay Merrill, in final rest.   There will be a memorial reception following the interment for his close friends and family at Garden Plaza in Aurora.   Funeral arrangements are being handled by Walker Family Funeral Services and their Colorado associates, All States Mortuary Services.
