Joel Pendergrass ,a 50 year resident of Aurora, died surrounded by his family Feb. 11, 2015. He was 89.

Mr. Pendergrass was born June 10, 1925 to Hugh and Eula Pendergrass in Winder, Georgia. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1944 and served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam and retired as CMSGT, USAF. Awards included the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service and Joint Services Commendation Medals.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Kay; brother, T.O. Pendergrass of Lawrenceville, Georgia; his son Michael (Delia) of Highlands Ranch; daughters Kathryn Richey (Kevin), Denver and Robin Nickel (“Nick”) Colorado Springs; five grandchildren; Trina Schneider, Rebecca Cordiano, Brent and Joel Richey and Kailey Nickel; and seven great-grandchildren.
Military honors will be at Ft. Logan, Staging “A” at 1 p.m. Feb. 27. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m.on Feb. 28, at 2015 at Parkview Congregational Church, 12444 East Parkview Drive in Aurora.
