BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. | Alan Almond, a longtime Detroit-area host of the popular nighttime radio show “Pillow Talk” who was known for his baritone voice, has died.

The Beverly Hills Department of Public Safety says it was called to a home Tuesday in the Detroit suburb following the 67-year-old’s death. The cause wasn’t immediately available from police.

Almond hosted “Pillow Talk” on WNIC-FM for more than 25 years starting in the 1970s. The show featured love songs and Almond’s unique delivery. He was well known in the Detroit area and WNIC says the show was syndicated and heard in several other U.S. markets.

Theresa Lucas, the station’s assistant program director, says in a statement that Almond “was passionate and a perfectionist about everything he did in life and on the radio.”

Arrangements were pending.

  1. Alan Almond was my childhood icon! He was to me what the boy bands and celebrities are to many others. At age 8, I remember not being able to fall asleep until after Midnight because I had to hear his twinkle twinkle bit. Then a few years later on Thanksgiving night, I actually got to talk to him. I was ecstatic!

    He will truly be missed!
