PHOENIX | Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says she is pleased by the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling to strike down parts of Arizona’s immigration law.

Napolitano said Monday the work of U.S. Department of Homeland Security will be more challenging with the upholding of a “show me your papers” provision.

Napolitano says DHS will make “operational enhancements” to its programs in Arizona.

The former Arizona governor says the court’s decision to throw out the other provisions confirms state laws cannot dictate federal enforcement policies.

Napolitano says she will continue to urge Congress to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
