AURORA | A dispute between two “groups of people” at a west Aurora apartment complex Monday night resulted in gunfire, seriously injuring a woman, according to Aurora police.
Officers were called to the parking lot of Santana Apartments in the 9900 block of East Arizona Drive at about 9 p.m. after reports of a shooting there.
“The preliminary investigation suggests the shooting stemmed from an argument between two groups of people who are known to each other,” Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement. “A 23-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and was taken to a local hospital by a witness or witnesses to the shooting.”
As of Monday night, the woman was reportedly seriously injured from the gunshot wound and expected to survive, according to Moylan.
The police department’s Gun Violence Suppression Team is investigating the shooting. No suspects have been identified as of Tuesday morning.
Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
