Woman found in Cherry Creek was from Aurora

AURORA | A woman found dead over the weekend in a Denver creek was from Aurora, the Denver medical examiner said Tuesday.

Deisi Fernandez-Castaneda, 28, lived in the 1700 block of Roosevelt Way, the medical examiner said.

According to Denver police, a man called 911 around 2:30 p.m. Jan. 20 and reported seeing a body in Cherry Creek near East Florida Avenue and South Oneida Street. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical examiner said an autopsy was completed but the cause and manner of death is pending further investigation.
