AURORA | An unidentified Aurora woman walking in a north-Aurora crosswalk was struck last week by a pickup truck and later died from her injuries, police said.

The woman, 50, was eastbound in the crosswalk at Peoria Street and East 30th Ave. at about 4:30 p.m. when the collision occurred, according to police.

“A GMC truck making a left turn onto southbound Peoria struck her,” Aurora police spokesperson Gabby Easterwood said in a statement. “The woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and, despite lifesaving efforts, died on Nov. 9.”

Investigators said the woman had the right of way at the time of the collision.

“The driver of the GMC, an adult man, stayed on scene and is cooperating with investigators,” Easterwood said. “There is no indication drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.”

Details about possible charges against the driver were not available.

  1. She isn’t “unidentified”. She was my sister in law. Her name was Kathy Cahill Braun. She has 4 sons and a husband. We are devastated.

    1. So sorry.
Kathy was crossing eastbound and driver was heading westbound turning left.
How could he miss seeing her? Sun a factor? Driver on cell phone?
