AURORA | This election year is going to be different.

Sure, there are a host of candidates, races and issues that are already heating up interest among Sentinel readers.

But how, and what election news the Sentinel brings you, and tens of thousands of readers across the region, will be different this year.

We’re making you, and all our readers, virtual Election Desk Editors through November with our Voter Voices 2024 project.

We want our readers and others in the community to tell us what you want and need to encourage you to vote, and vote in an informed way — that you define.

The opportunities here are grand, but the task is really simple. We’ve included a brief survey where you can help direct our reporters as we move through the election season.

We’re not alone in working to make media election coverage work better for you. We’re part of the Voter Voices 2024  statewide collaborative effort among newspapers, radio, television and digital media across the state, also asking their readers, viewers and listeners to direct election coverage.

It’s that simple, and you already know how important this is. Please take just a moment to complete the survey. We’ll report back on what you and others told us, and we’ll tell everyone how we plan to make good on your assignments as a Sentinel Election Desk Editor for 2024.

— The Sentinel News Team

Voters are at the heart of every election. We want to know what issues most matter to you. Your hopes and concerns will set the agenda for how we report and write about the issues — and the stakes — of the 2024 election. Please take a few moments to tell us what you think candidates should be talking about as they compete for your vote. We will use your contact information only to reach out if a reporter wants to better understand your comments. If you choose, you can remain anonymous, and your name will not appear in any story. Questions marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

  1. I completed the survey then refused to sign off on the long winded, multi paged not needed “terms of service”. I trust Dave Perry more than the lawyers who wrote this “terms of service”. As a side note, I do not trust Dave Perry nor the Sentinel Blog. Should make a prudent person wonder why there is “terms of service” for any survey of any type.

  2. Just completed the survey. Do it! The more you share; the more they know! The more you read; the more informed you become!

  3. I completed the survey but I do not trust Dave Perry. This is the most biased political rag in the state of CO.

  4. I second Mr. Harp and Mr. Moore’s comments and I guess I won’t be submitting the Survey either. With only three choices for “How would you generally describe your political views? Can’t be blank” my position of “I am an old-fashioned Goldwaterite: ‘Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice!’ ” is not acceptable to The Sentinel. Come on Editor Perry, break out of the Bipartisan Myth!

  5. The rich people are paying a smaller percentage in taxes than the middle class. They should pay a higher rate. Also make the largest donation to politicians at $100.00. This would get the politicians interested in passing legislation that is good for all of us.

  6. We all should read more. Conservative, moderate or liberal. All knowledge is currency in the right Market. Pay attention. Don’t become collateral damage!
