AURORA | A mislabeled truck at Buckley Air Force Base prompted base officials to ask Aurora police to close roads and temporarily evacuate nearby homes and businesses Tuesday morning.
According to base officials, a truck entering the base around 10 a.m. — which was expected by gate security — was mislabeled and isolated on the base. Buckley officials called the Aurora Police Department to assist the base in cordoning off the area to remove the truck.
Police closed nearby Tower Road and East Mississippi Avenue to traffic and evacuated some nearby homes and businesses. Police officials didn’t provide an estimate of the number of businesses and homes impacted.
Buckley officials said the evacuation order was lifted at 11 a.m. and that the gate would reopen shortly.
