AURORA | Police say a man barricaded himself in a southeast Aurora house for several hours Wednesday before fatally shooting himself. Police said no other people were injured during the incident.
Police didn’t release the man’s identity or say what prompted the 7-hour standoff with police. A family member who notified police at a nearby station reportedly told police the man was upset with “personal matters.”
Police said that around 5 a.m. April 10 police responded to the home near the 22800 block of East Euclid Circle on a report of shots fired. Police said a man in the home refused to surrender, but came out of the house at one point during negotiations before quickly returning inside.
Around 9:45 a.m. police say the man stopped responding to communications. At 12:30 police said they used a robot to search the house where they found the man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
