AURORA | An unidentified man was killed Sunday evening when the SUV he was driving went off the road and hit a barrier at East Alameda Avenue while driving north on I-225.

Witnesses told police the man driving the GMC Yukon was weaving through traffic at about 5:15 p.m. when the crash occurred, police said in a statement.

At one point, the car began to veer to the right and struck a concrete barrier at the exit ramp for Alameda Avenue.

Rescuers said the man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

“The driver was not wearing a seatbelt,” police spokesperson Gabby Easterwood said in a statement. “Speed and alcohol are both believed to be factors in the crash.”

The scene was closed down and restricted to traffic for several house as police investigated the crash.

  1. Having seen the vehicle, he likelyvould have survived had he been wearing seat-belts.
    In EMS, it is amazing the number of people who allow themselves to be maimed or killed in vehicle collisionsimply because they do not wear safety-belts.

    A man stopped at a red traffic signal was killed when a car his vehicle head-on.

  2. I drove by this accident. We assumed it was someone driving fast, weaving lanes, and suddenly taking an exit while going way too fast. Turns out we were right. I’m glad this POS only killed himself and not any others. Good riddance
