AURORA | Police say an unidentified man died from gunshot wounds Thursday evening after being shot while in west-central Aurora.

Police were called to the 12200 block of East Florida Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. after reports of a shooting.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries, police said.

“Our Major Crimes Homicide Unit is now investigating,” police said in a social media post.

Police responded to a separate shooting earlier Thursday less than a mile away.

Investigators were called to the 12000 block of East Ford Avenue at about 10 a.m. after report of a shooting there.

“Once at the scene, officers located a 33-year-old Aurora man suffering from an obvious gunshot wound,” police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement. “Officers performed lifesaving actions on the man until an ambulance arrived at the scene. The man was rushed to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.”

Police said the shootings are unrelated.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
