DENVER | The Regional Transportation District is developing an advisory committee for people with disabilities, according to a news release earlier this month.

Thirteen community members will have an opportunity to provide feedback aimed to influence policy change of RTD services and programs.

The group will work in an advisory capacity providing recommendations to an internal RTD steering committee on various subjects such as RTD vehicles, facilities and on-demand, rail and bus services, according to the release.

Participants will serve one-, two- and three-year staggered terms beginning this year. All perspectives are needed to provide meaningful input to the committee. People with disabilities, travel trainers, parents, advocates and others are encouraged to apply.

“Input from the community is vital to the success of all RTD services,” RTD General Manager and CEO Dave Genova said in a statement. “Participation in this new committee will provide invaluable information on how we can increase safety, as well as streamline and improve access to RTD for our patrons with mobility issues.”

Applications for the committee are being accepted through May 2.

For route information, call RTD’s Telephone Information Center at 303-299-6000. For speech and hearing impaired call TDD 303-299-6089, or Relay Colorado 711. Visit RTD’s website at RTD-Denver.com for more information.

RTD serves the Denver Metro area in an eight-county service area, providing 100 million passenger trips annually.
