AURORA | Three men were injured during a rollover crash at South Chambers Road and East Mexico Avenue late Monday, leaving one of the passengers in serious condition and the driver facing numerous charges.

Police said a man driving a 2005 Mitsubishi Galant was speeding north on Chambers Road near midnight when he lost control of the car, struck a light pole and hit a business marquee in a parking lot, flipping the sedan over on its top. The driver and another man in the front of the car were wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries. The man in the back seat was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained serious injuries.

Police did not name the men, nor provide details about their ages or injuries. All were transported to The Medical Center of Aurora South Campus.

Alcohol and excessive speed contributed to the crash, police said. The driver was jailed after being released from the hospital and faces charges of vehicular assault, reckless driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
