AURORA | A month after a guard at an Aurora marijuana store was fatally shot during his shift, Denver Metro Crime Stoppers and Shortline Automotive Group have more than doubled the total reward offered for information leading to the suspects’ arrest and conviction.
The Crime Stoppers organization is offering an additional $10,000 on top of $2,000 offered initially after the shooting death of 24-year-old Travis Steven Mason, who was working at the Green Heart Marijuana Dispensary, 19005 E. Quincy Ave. in Aurora, when he was fatally shot about 9:44 p.m. June 18. Shortline Automotive Group pledged $8,000 shortly thereafter.
Police found Mason after being called to the store on a report of a robbery and shots fired at the store. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office said Mason was shot three times, including once in the head.
Euflora, a neighboring dispensary, has pledged $3,000 in reward money, while the ATF has pledged $5,000 and the Aurora Police Reward Fund has pledged $2,000. That brings the grand total of reward money pledged for information leading to the suspects in Mason’s slaying to $30,000.
Investigators with APD’s Major Crimes/Homicide Unit and crime scene investigators said the suspects in the robbery of the store and shooting of Mason are two black males who were armed with handguns.
Aurora police ask that anyone with information about the incident call Agent Matthew Ingui with the Major Crimes/Homicide Unit at 303-739-6067. Tipsters can also call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters who call Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward.
