Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson on Monday crossed party lines to endorse a Democrat for district attorney.
In an announcement Monday, Ethan Feldman’s campaign said the long-time Republican sheriff had endorsed Feldman, a Democrat running for DA in the 18th Judicial District.
“I know that Ethan will serve with integrity, professionalism, and a dedication to justice when elected as our next District Attorney. I am proud to support him for District Attorney in the 18th Judicial District,” Robinson said in a statement.
The judicial district includes Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties.
The Republican in the race, George Brauchler, had already received the endorsement of the other county sheriffs in the district, all of whom are Republicans.
Feldman said he was glad to have Robinson’s endorsement and said it was one of many he had received from Republicans, including former Republican District Attorney Bob Gallagher.
“I am proud to have received the support of so many Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. They understand that there is no place for partisan politics in the pursuit of justice,” he said.
It’s not the first time Robinson has endorsed a Democrat. In 2010, he endorsed Michael Dobersen for coroner over the republican candidate. That race was a bit different, however, because Dobersen had been elected several times before as a Republican and changed his affiliation a few years before running for his final term.

Vote for Ethan Feldman, if you care about justice.
Why is an elected county official usinging their title to endorse anyone. The Sheriff works for all the citizens and need to keep public endorsements to himself. If he wishes to endorse anyone he needs to do so and a private citizen minus his title.
Perhaps Sheriff Grayson cares enough about this community to endorse the person most qualified to keep it safe
I think JR2CO is George Brauchler. Believe me; if he had the
endorsement of anyone on Mr. Feldman’s list he would be using their name plus
their professional title. He may claim that the State Attorney General endorsed
him, but truly, the SAG would have endorsed either Republican who won the
primary. Since Scott Story is a Republican, the current District Attorney in
Jefferson County and Brauchler’s last civilian boss, why has he not endorsed
Brauchler? That speaks volumes to the character of Brauchler, wouldn’t you
think. What does Scott Storey know that we don’t?
