AURORA | An unidentified man was found shot dead Monday morning in a park near the former Lowry Air Force Base in west Aurora, police said.

Police were called to a park at East Third Avenue and Elmira Street at about 5:45 a.m. after a 911 caller reported an unresponsive man lying in the park.

“Officers arrived and found evidence to suggest that the unidentified man had been shot,” police said in a statement. “The man was pronounced deceased on scene.”

Police said few details were available about the time of the shooting or how it occurred.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
