AURORA | Aurora police said they have found a developmentally disabled boy who was missing since Sunday from his north Aurora home.

Juan Manuel Campos-Rocha, 13, was found at about 12:30 p.m. today at Civic Center Park in Denver, Aurora police Chief Nick Metz said during a press conference Tuesday.

Metz said someone who saw media reports about Campos-Rocha spotted the boy at the park and told a Denver police officer. The officer approached the boy and confirmed his identity, Metz said.

Finding the boy safe — which happened just a half hour before Metz and the boy’s family were set to address the media about his disappearance — was a relief for the department.

“Not all of these searches have the happiest ending,” he said.

Police still aren’t sure how the boy got to Downtown Denver or what he had done these past couple days, Metz said, but investigators plan to speak with him.
