AURORA | A gunshot wound that sent a boy to the hospital Thursday may have been self inflicted, police said.

The incident happened around 11 a.m. in an apartment at 18105 E. Ohio Ave.

Aurora police spokesman Sgt. Chris Amsler said officers responded to the scene on a report of gunshots and found the wounded boy. Police did not disclose the age of the boy. He was rushed to an area hospital with injuries that don’t appear life threatening, Amsler said.

The wound may have been self inflicted, Amsler said.

Two other boys were seen running from the area but Amsler said police aren’t sure if they were involved.
