After trying for several days to determine the identity of a man slain Monday near East 30th Avenue and Peoria Street, police today identified the man as Ernesto Rodriguez-Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, 44, was shot around 10:30 p.m. June 18 outside the Abrigo Apartments, 12170 E. 30th Ave.
In a statement, police said officers responded to the apartment complex at 30th and Peoria Street on a report of shots fired.
When officers arrived, they found Rodriguez in the parking lot. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Aurora police spokesman Officer Frank Fania said Thursday that investigators were having trouble identifying Rodriguez.
Detectives from the department’s Major Crime Unit are investigating the case and no suspect information has been released.
Fania said Friday police have few leads on the shooting.
