AURORA | A man struck by a car Saturday night on East Colfax Avenue escaped serious injuries and police are hoping he can tell them what kind of car hit him.

The man, who was struck around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at Colfax and Jamaica Street, was unconscious in the street when emergency crews found him, but Aurora police Lt. Jeff Turner, who oversees the department’s traffic section, said he escaped with only bumps and bruises.

“Which is amazing because he obviously flew a little ways when he got hit,” he said.

The driver who struck the man fled the scene and investigators have almost no information on the car involved, Turner said. No witnesses saw the collision.

Now that the man is recovering, detectives hope he can tell them what kind of car was involved, Turner said.

Witnesses saw an older brown or maroon Suburban type vehicle leaving the area around the time of the collision, but investigators aren’t sure if that vehicle was involved.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 303-627-3100.

  1. ‘police are searching for the hit and run driver’ why? The woman who hit and gravely injured a 17 year old girl and left the scene in Denver was recently sentenced to 5 years probation. Her victim is brain damaged, she’s learning how to eat and drink, how’s them apples.
