AURORA | At least 13 people were forced from their homes Thursday when a fire tore through a north Aurora apartment building.
According to Aurora fire, the blaze started shortly before noon in a building at 1429 Macon St.
When crews arrived, they found a fire in a garden-level unit that had spread to units on the second and third floors.
Firefighters had the flames under control within 10 minutes, but two people were taken to a nearby hospital with minor smoke inhalation injuries. No firefighters were hurt.
The Red Cross is helping 13 displaced victims, Aurora fire said, and there could be even more who need assistance.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
