AUROA | A six-week-old girl injured in a high-speed crash early Monday morning has been upgraded to good condition and is steadily improving, her father said Tuesday.

At a press onference in front of Children’s Hospital Colorado, where Lizbeth McMomas is being treated, the girl’s father, Jason McComas said his daughter is bruised and has two black eyes, but one eye is open.

“Each day she is getting better and there is progression,” McComas said.

Police said Lizbeth suffered several injuries, including a fractured skull, in the crash near Parker Road and East Lehigh Avenue on Monday. Her mother, Shalimar McComas, who was driving the car, was also hurt in the crash but has since been released form the hospital.

The driver who police say caused the crash, 21-year-old William Page, III of Denver, is also hospitalized with serious injuries, police said. Aurora police Lt. Chuck DeShazer said Page’s injuries are so severe that doctors in an intensive care unit put him in a medically-induced coma.

A spokeswoman at Medical Center of Aurora, where Page is being treated, did not immediately return a call for comment Tuesday.

The crash happened around 2 a.m. when police say Page was speeding north on Parker Road going at least 85 mph. Witnesses said he may have been going as fast as 100 mph, DeShazer said.

Near Lehigh he struck a Dodge Caliber, causing both vehicles to roll.

Page was ejected during the crash and later rushed to a hospital.

Jason McComas said Tuesday that his daughter’s car seat likely saved her life.
