AURORA | Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with a bizarre hit-and-run accident last week.

William A. Elliott, of Aurora, was arrested Wednesday om kidnapping and traffic-related charges stemming from a hit-and-run Dec. 6 that sent a juvenile girl to the hospital.

According to police, Elliott was driving south on Laredo Street and trying to turn onto East Colfax Avenue when he struck the girl, who was trying to cross Colfax. After the impact, police say Elliott grabbed the girl by the coat, put her in his car and drove to a nearby convenience store, where he let her out before fleeing.

The girl sustained scrapes and abrasions, police said.

Investigators identified Elliott a few days after the crash when a witness who saw the crash and took down the cars license plate number met with investigators.

Elliott is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail and is due in court Dec. 18, according to jail records.
