AURORA | Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a car and driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash Saturday morning in south Aurora.
The crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. at East Hampden Avenue and South Uravan Street.
An unidentified man struck by a blue sedan was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police did not release details about how the man was struck by the car.
Police said the suspect’s car appears to be a mid-1990s Pontiac Grand Am sedan with no front license plate.
The car “should have passenger side damage including a missing passenger side view mirror,” said police spokesperson Joe Moylan. “The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Hampden from the scene.”
The intersection was closed for a few hours and then reopened after investigators cleared the scene.
No suspect information was available.
“We are asking the community to please call 911 if they see the suspect vehicle,” Moylan said.

It likely is missing the rear license plate as well. Someone will call it in as having been parked illegally on their street in a week or so. Then the city parking squad will go out and put a warning to move it in three days. The crime will slowly start to show some clues.
“Crash” ?
Why not show the car LEVEL to make it easier to recognize?
The small effortoo much work for someone at APD?
Are there other cameras on East Hampden Avenue which could reveal detail?
Which way was the car heading? Such could indicate a destination.
The article says “The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Hampden from the scene.” I hope the car has been found by now and more evidence of the driver’s identity is found, such as fingerprints. Hit and runs happen way too often!
It is a good thing that the activists don’t want minor traffic stops done. It allows anyone to drive a stolen car or a car without plates, to perpetrate any crime they like. Excessive window tint also allows the driver to not be identifiable. The moves by our legislature to discourage police work are a fine thing, are they not?
