AURORA | The person found in a central Aurora street early Sunday, bleeding from gunshot wounds and who died from his wounds later at a hospital, was a 16-year-old boy, not an adult, police said Wednesday.
Police were called to the area of East Mexico Drive and East Oregon Drive at about 1 a.m. after reports of a man lying in the street.
“Upon arrival, they located a man who had been shot,” according to Aurora police spokesperson Matthew Wells-Longshore. That later turned out to be a 16-year-old boy, not identified by police.
Investigators said the boy had been at a party at a house in the 16000 block of East Bails Place just before the shooting.
“It was at that party that numerous shots were fired,” Wells-Longshore said. “At least two vehicles and one house sustained damage, but no other injuries were reported. “
“Crime Scene Investigators also recovered numerous shell casings, of different calibers,” Wells-Longshore said.
The case is still under investigation and no arrests have been made, police said Wednesday.
Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.

Other local news outlets report a large party was going on at a for sale vacant house on Bails Pl. The MLS registry does have a listing at 16800 Bails Place since last month. This is interesting as there seems to be a new trend these young adults have developed with their “take over” mentality. You have to wonder, was this the same house on Bailes as listed, and somehow squatter occupied before the takeover party? And if so, is this the new M.O. that our neighborhoods should expect when the next-door neighbor decides to pound in the sign – For Sale?
