AURORA | One man is in custody and another is dead after a stabbing Friday night in Aurora, police said.

The stabbing happened about 11:20 p.m. Friday at 1009 S. Newark St., police said in a statement.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been stabbed, and he was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ruben Martinez, 21, was later arrested on a second-degree murder charge.

The Arapahoe County coroner’s office identified the slain man as Taichan Christopher Silcott, 20. The coroner said he died of a stab wound and classified his death as a homicide.

Police said Martinez and the victim knew each other and had an altercation before the stabbing.

The department’s Majors Crime/Homicide unit is investigating and police said they are not looking for any other suspects.
