AURORA | Urgent, emergency and other healthcare expands this week into new communities in northeast Aurora as AdventHealth opens a new medical campus in the Aurora Highlands.
The 88,000-square-foot AdventHealth Aurora Highlands campus, 3405 N. Main St. in the Aurora Highlands, celebrated an opening this week and is slated to begin seeing patients next week.
The facility is the first phase of a planned two-phase medical campus and the only facilities like it in the region.
The campus includes a freestanding always-open emergency room with eight exam rooms, two trauma exam rooms and a helipad.
Outpatient imaging services at the center will include “CT” scans, ultrasound and X-rays. Officials said there are plans to add MRI services in the future.
The AdventHealth campus also will offer primary healthcare, orthopedic, cardiology and OB/GYN services, along with additional clinic space for future growth, Advent Health officials said in a statement.
“We are incredibly excited to open the doors of AdventHealth Aurora Highlands and bring convenient, whole-person care closer to the people who call this community home,” Erin Ward, Chief Operating Officer of AdventHealth Aurora Highlands, said in a statement.
AdventHealth is a non-profit health care system with more than 50 hospitals and hundreds of medical-care sites in nine states.
The Aurora Highlands facility was designed and built to incorporate heat energy provided by 96 geothermal wells extending about 500 feet underground. The wells provide up to a total 240 tons of heating and cooling capacity and are designed to reduce energy use and carbon emissions, officials said.
Additional future development at the campus will include a 50- to 75-bed hospital with a Level III trauma center at the site, AdventHealth officials said.
Aurora Highlands community CEO Carla Ferreira said the campus is a milestone for the local growing development and the entire Aurora community.
“We are proud to welcome AdventHealth’s physicians, caregivers and staff to The Aurora Highlands and look forward to the positive impact this facility will have on the people who live and work here,” Ferreira said in a statement.
The campus opens for business Sept. 29.
