AURORA | A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday night, Aug. 16, after running a red light and hitting a minivan in Aurora.
Auora police responded to the scene about 9 p.m. at the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Winston Street.
Investigators say the rider of a 2003 grey Suzuki GXR R1000 motorcycle was headed west on Hampden when he ran a red light and struck the driver side of a 2011 gold Honda Odyssey minivan that was making a legal left turn from Winston to eastbound Hampden.
The man on the motorcycle, whose name has not been released, was taken to a local hospital with what police described as serious injuries. Investigators said he was wearing a helmet and that speed likely was the main factor in the incident; drugs and alcohol were not cited as possible contributors to the collision.
The driver of the minivan was not injured.
