AURORA | It was unclear Tuesday whether a motorcyclist who crashed Sunday in Aurora will survive his injuries, police said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was not wearing a helmet when he crashed around 10:20 p.m. Sunday near East Ford Avenue and South Salem Street in Aurora.

Police said the man, who was likely intoxicated and driving erratically, lost control of his bike and crashed into a parked car.

Aurora police Lt. Jeff Turner, who oversees the department’s traffic section, said the man remains in very serious condition at a local hospital and doctors hope to know by Wednesday whether he will survive.

If the man does survive, Turner said he could face DUI charges.
