AURORA | Police around the state nabbed more than 1,000 DUI suspects — including 111 in Aurora — over a two-week stretch surrounding Labor Day weekend.
Aurora’s total trailed only Denver police, which arrested 153 DUI suspects during the same stretch, according to Colorado State Patrol’s preliminary data from the weekend.
Statewide, 1,089 people were arrested on DUI charges from Aug. 17 through Sept. 4, according to CSP.
Over just the holiday weekend, which includes the afternoon of Aug. 31 until early morning Sept. 4, Aurora police arrested 37 people. The Colorado State Patrol arrested 73 around the state,
State Patrol said there were two fatal crashes over the long weekend and alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor in one.
