COLOMA, Mich. | A man wanted in connection with a double slaying in Michigan has been captured in Colorado.
Alex Perez was arrested early Friday in Georgetown, Colorado, more than 1,100 miles from Coloma, Michigan, where he is suspected of killing the mother of his two daughters and her father.
An Amber Alert was issued for the 3- and 4-year-old sisters after they were discovered missing late Thursday.
The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Paul Osckel spotted Perez and the girls in a parked, running vehicle. He checked the license plate, found Perez was wanted and took him into custody after a brief struggle.
Detective Sgt. Fabian Suarez of the Michigan State Police believes Perez was headed back home to Los Angeles when he was found.
It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
