DENVER | Authorities have released the name of a man who was shot by a police officer near the border of Denver and Aurora after a report of a shooting near a north Aurora motel.

The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/l62pkG ) an Aurora police officer shot 27-year-old Sidney Sylvester at the Sand & Sage Motel on East Colfax Avenue on Monday afternoon, May 9. Officers were looking for a suspect connected to a reported shooting about 10 minutes earlier.

No officers or bystanders were hurt in the shooting, and investigators have not said if Sylvester was armed.

It’s unclear if Sylvester has hired an attorney. He remains hospitalized in fair condition.
