AURORA | Police are asking for help for clues involving a man shot in a parking lot who then drove away, wrecked his locked car and died before police could arrive and pull him out.
Aurora police Sgt. Cassidee Carlson says the man was shot just before midnight Monday. Investigators believe he was shot at a nearby parking lot in the 300 block of South Ironton, got into his car and drove a short distance along East Alameda Avenue before the car ran onto a sidewalk and stopped.
Carlson says officers had to break a window to unlock the car. They administered CPR until paramedics arrived and took the man to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
Carlson says police have made no arrests and haven’t identified a suspect, but they believe the shooting is an isolated event.
