AURORA | A man found in a central Aurora street early Sunday, bleeding from gunshot wounds, died from his wounds later at a hospital.

Police were called to the area of East Mexico Drive and East Oregon Drive at about 1 a.m. after reports of a man lying in the street.

“Upon arrival, they located a man who had been shot,” according to Aurora police spokesperson Matthew Wells-Longshore.

Investigators said he’d been at a party at a house in the 16000 block of East Bails Place just before the shooting

“It was at that party that numerous shots were fired,” Wells-Longshore said. “At least two vehicles and one house sustained damage, but no other injuries were reported. “

The slain man was not identified.

“Crime Scene Investigators also recovered numerous shell casings, of different calibers,” Wells-Longshore said.  “Investigators have not yet made any arrests.”

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.

  1. Several other TV news stations that went out reported the neighbors said there were cars everywhere and these autos had filled up the whole street. Then the party goers were now headed down the street for some party held at a vacant house listed for sale. The obvious question seems appropriate. Did all this traffic overflow and blockage occur odd to any of these other neighbors that live close by? And a big party at a listed house late at night? And no one wondered WTF? Since several people’s cars and a house now they have a few new bullet holes, I suspect a few shattered windshields. Will this serve as an example to pay attention when you have to open your check book to cover the cost of the damage? And just after seeing this Tsunami coming out your front window. But let’s see if APD was called out to investigate by a couple neighbors and then they did not come out. Or they did respond yet decided not to get involved– a civil matter, as they say. That’s a story for another day and serious problem.
