AURORA | A man was fatally shot Friday morning in central Aurora during what police say appears to be a domestic violence incident with a woman, also injured and being held for questioning.

Police were called to the 10700 block of East Exposition Avenue at about 9:15 a.m. after reports of a shooting there.

“Once at the scene, the officers located a 41-year-old Aurora man with an apparent gunshot wound,” Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement. “Officers performed lifesaving actions on the man until medical responders arrived at the scene. The man was taken to a local hospital where he later died.”

A 37-year-old woman was also taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

“The preliminary investigation suggests the shooting stemmed from a possible domestic violence incident,” Moylan said.

As of Friday afternoon, police said the woman, not identified, was being questioned but was not tabbed as a suspect in the shooting. Police said, however, there were no other suspects at the time.
