AURORA | Police arrested a man in Weld County Monday night in connection with an April 1 slaying on Mercer Drive in Aurora.
Christopher Michael Martinez, 35, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. April 6 in Wattenberg, according to Aurora police. The Weld County sheriff’s office assisted with the arrest, police said.
Martinez is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the slaying of 33-year-old Clifford Eugene Wilson Jr.
Wilson was shot and killed in a home at 18967 E. Mercer Dr. Police said later he was shot after an altercation at the home with a suspect who he knew but didn’t release further details.
The Arapahoe County coroner’s office said Wilson died of multiple gunshot wounds.
