AURORA | Police say investigators believe an unidentified juvenile boy was struck by a bullet during an exchange of gunfire early Saturday in northwest Aurora.

Officials at an unnamed local hospital called police at about 12:15 a.m. Saturday to report that a juvenile boy had come into the emergency room with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Police said an investigation revealed the shooting occurred in the 1400 block of Dayton Street in northwest Aurora and the boy was then taken to a nearby hospital.

“Officers responded to the scene on Dayton Street, where they located numerous shell casings and other evidence,” police said. “Investigators have reason to believe an exchange of gunfire occurred.”

No arrests had been made as of Sunday, police said.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
