AURORA | The two suspects arrested after a woman was slain early Saturday morning at the Weatherstone Apartments in north Aurora are a 19-year-old man and a
juvenile.
Police identified the 19-year-old on Tuesday as Abdullah Jhalil Ratcliff. Police said he is facing aggravated robbery charges stemming from the shooting.
The other suspect is a juvenile and police said they could not release his name or charges unless he is charged as an adult, a decision that prosecutors have not yet made.
Because the case involves a juvenile, police said a judge has sealed the case file and they are barred from releasing further details, including the name of the victim.
In the hours after the shooting, police said they responded to an apartment at 15570 East 12th Avenue around 1:20 a.m. Saturday on a report of a shooting.
There, police found a woman suffering a gunshot wound and a witness who gave them a description of a vehicle that the suspects fled in.
A short time later, police spotted the vehicle near East 22nd Avenue and Billings Street and saw two people running from it.
Officers set up a perimeter and after an extensive search arrested the two suspects.
According to court records, Ratcliff, who is being held in the Arapahoe County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond, is due in court Feb. 6 for formal filing of charges.
