AURORA | An unidentified girl was shot in the leg early Sunday while leaving what police described as a house party in west-central Aurora.

Officers were called to a home at the Highline Villages townhome and condo community in the 100 block of South Nome Street at about 1 a.m. after reports of a shooting.

“A minor-aged female was leaving a house party when she was shot in the leg by an unknown person,” Aurora police spokesperson Joy Moylan said in a statement. “The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.”

Police said they had no information about a possible suspect or motive in the shooting.

“The Gun Violence Suppression Team is leading the investigation, which is active and ongoing,” Moylan said.

Police said anyone with information can call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and still be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000, police said.
