The girl, who appeared in court Thursday with her attorneys, faces a first-degree murder charge as an adult in the killing of Jordan Vong.

The Denver Post reports her attorneys asked whether a guardian could be appointed to investigate what would be in the best interest of the child.

The girl is accused of placing her hand over Vong’s mouth and plugging his nose after he asked her to play video games with him on Aug. 6 and then hiding his body in a closet.

The boy’s body was found Aug. 8.
