AURORA | A fire at a vacant restaurant sent smoke billowing into the air and closed a busy Aurora intersection Tuesday afternoon.

The blaze started around 2 p.m. at the former sports bar at the northwest corner of East Iliff Avenue and South Peoria Street.

Several fire trucks responded as smoke poured from the roof and windows.

Aurora fire Capt. Diane Lord said crews have the fire under control, but have not been able to enter the building to see if anyone is inside.

Westbound lanes of Iliff are closed at Peoria.

Investigators are on the scene to determine the cause of the blaze. Officials say there are no injuries.
