AURORA | This is it. Hit the lights. Your chance to star on stage, or try, starts soon — if you’re in middle school or high school.
The Aurora Fox Arts Center has openings for its summer training program, the Foxlight Theatre Lab, a three-week intensive program for students grades 7 through 12.
The 2026 program will run July 6– July 25 and conclude with public performances of “She Kills Monsters” on the Aurora Fox mainstage, according to arts center officials.
Formerly known as “Little Foxes,” the program provides hands-on, production-focused training led by Talia Liccardello, a drama director and teacher at Littleton High School.
Students will rehearse on weekdays while developing acting, movement and ensemble-building skills, culminating in a fully staged production. Organizers said every registered student will be cast.
The Aurora Fox Arts Center, a city-owned venue in the Aurora Cultural Arts District, opened in 1946 as a movie theater and was converted into a performing arts center in 1985. It features a 217-seat mainstage and a 72-seat studio space, and produces five mainstage shows each season along with youth programs and classes.
Ginger White Brunetti, the city of Aurora’s director of Library and Cultural Services, said the program reflects the city’s commitment to arts education.
“Programs like this give students the chance to build confidence, collaborate creatively and experience the transformative power of live theater,” Brunetti said in a statement.
The featured production, “She Kills Monsters,” combines high school themes with fantasy role-playing elements, offering participants opportunities for physical storytelling and ensemble work.
Rehearsals are slated for weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
An audition for casting for the show is scheduled for 2 p.m. June 20.
Performances are set for July 24– July 25 at the Aurora Fox Arts Center, 9900 E. Colfax Ave.
Registration for the program is open through June 15, and space is limited.Details are on the Aurora Fox website or by calling the box office at 303-739-1970.
