Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan, Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates, and Aurora Fire Chief Mike Garcia were on hand to accept the donation at a press conference at the Bozarth dealership on July 24.
“Thank you doesn’t seem like it’s enough,” Hogan said.
Bozarth’s son, Kent, said he hopes the money will provide some sort of comfort for the victims and victim’s families.
“We thought it was the least we could do to help the community,” he said.
Councilwoman Molly Markert said the money could be used for medical bills, rehabilitation, or just go toward financially helping victims who have had to miss work due to their injuries.
“It’s exactly what Aurora is all about,” said Councilwoman Molly Markert, whose ward includes the dealership. “You just give what you’ve got to those who need it.”
