AURORA | Ecotech Institute in Aurora is offering a special tuition rate to help former ITT Technical Institute electrical engineering technology students earn a technician’s degree in the continually expanding renewable energy industry, according to a news release.

The 6-year-old, for-profit Ecotech Institute asserts itself as the only college in the country to focus solely on renewable energy and sustainability.

In addition to a special tuition rate, Ecotech will also waive enrollment and registration fees for former students of ITT, which announced Sept. 6 its plans to shutter all 136 of its campuses in 38 states, including Colorado campuses in Aurora and Westminster.

Colorado Community College System last week announced plans to hold five informational open houses throughout September for former ITT Tech students, to help those displaced learners get information on financial aid and admissions for six metroplex community colleges, including Community College of Aurora.

According to a news release, Ecotech Institute’s electrical engineering technician program provides students with renewable energy fundamentals and a knowledge of electrical engineering technology they can apply to the clean energy industry.

“We’re committed to equipping our students with the skills and training they need to launch their careers,” Campus President Chris Gorrie said in the release. “With the support of our instructors and career services staff, a majority of our graduates have jobs within 90 days of graduation.

“Jobs in renewable energy are growing and, with this increased demand, there’s never been a better time to enter this dynamic industry,” he added.

More information for ITT Tech students is available online or by phone at 303-586-5290.

Launched in April 2010, Ecotech offers seven renewable energy degree programs. Classes start once per quarter and applications are always accepted. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. Ecotech Institute is a division of Education Corporation of America, and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. National accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
