AURORA | A dirt bike rider was killed and his passenger critically injured Monday night when they crashed broadside into a pick-up truck in north-central Aurora, police said.

Officers were called to East Sixth Avenue at Toledo Street at about 7:30 p.m. after reports of a vehicle crash there.

“The preliminary investigation has determined the dirt bike was operated by an adult male with an adult female passenger.,” Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement. “The dirt bike was eastbound on East Sixth Avenue when it struck the side of a Ford F-350 pickup that was making a left turn onto Toledo Street.”

Both the man driving the dirt bike and his passenger were critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital, where the man later died from his injuries. The woman also sustained life-threatening injuries, police said.

“The driver of the pickup was uninjured, remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, which is active and ongoing,” Moylan said.

Did the dirt bike have headlights on?
I ride. Lefturning vehicles are the greatest hazard to motorcyclists because vehicle driver may miss seeing the motorcyclist, especially in backgroundight clutter after dark.
In case I am unnoticed, I may slowhen approaching oncoming lefturning vehicles.

  2. Trebor, since you ride, you should know that dirt bikes don’t have headlights, blinkers or tail lights.
